Does a City of London office legally need first aiders?
Every employer must provide adequate and appropriate first aid under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, decided by a needs assessment. For most City offices that means at least one EFAW-trained first aider, and more in larger or multi-floor buildings.
Our building manager provides first aid. Is that enough?
Not on its own. Shared-building arrangements can help, but each employer remains responsible for its own staff, so your needs assessment should record who your first aiders are and how cover works when they are out.
Can you train staff early, before the working day gets busy?
Yes. We regularly start early so sessions fit around client work, and EFAW is a single day, on site in your own meeting room.
