Our accreditation in brief

Amber Training Ltd is an approved training centre delivering FAA (First Aid Awards) Level 3 qualifications through Nuco Training. The qualifications are regulated by Ofqual and sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). Delegates who pass receive one of two qualifications, depending on the course:

Both certificates are valid for three years.

What this means for an employer

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate first aid, and HSE guidance asks employers to satisfy themselves that their first aid training provider is competent. Choosing a qualification regulated by Ofqual is the simplest way to show that: the awarding body sets the syllabus and the assessment standard, and checks that its training centres meet it.

In practical terms, an Ofqual-regulated FAA Level 3 Award means your first aiders were taught a recognised syllabus based on the HSE training standard, assessed practically and in writing, and certified by the awarding body rather than by the trainer alone. It is the same qualification whichever approved centre delivers it, so it is recognised if a first aider moves to another employer.

What this means for an auditor

When an auditor, insurer or client reviews your first aid provision, they usually want to see three things: a first aid needs assessment, enough first aiders to match it, and evidence that those first aiders hold a current, recognised qualification. Our certificates answer the third point directly. Each one names the regulated qualification, the awarding body, the date of achievement and a certificate number that can be checked.

Keep the certificates with your needs assessment and track their expiry dates. Our certificate checker works out renewal dates for each first aider.

What is on the certificate

  • The delegate's name
  • The full qualification title, for example FAA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF)
  • The awarding body, First Aid Awards
  • The date of achievement, from which the three-year validity runs
  • A unique certificate number

How to check a certificate

Every certificate carries its own certificate number, which can be checked to confirm the qualification is genuine and current. If you are an employer, auditor or new employer who needs us to confirm a certificate we issued, send the delegate's name and certificate number through our contact form and we will confirm the details.

Records we provide

  • A certificate for each delegate who passes, emailed usually the day after the training. If your email security blocks a file type, we resend in a form that gets through.
  • A training record for your compliance file, showing who was trained, on which course and when.
  • A reminder in good time before certificates are due for renewal, if you would like one.

Our trainer

Our trainer holds the Level 3 Award in Education and Training and current First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid qualifications, renewed every three years, and is DBS-checked. Amber Training is fully insured.
