First Aid Training for Recruitment and Staffing Agencies
Agencies have first aid duties to their own staff, and a share in the arrangements for the temporary workers they place. We train your internal team on site and help you understand where the responsibilities sit.
Fixed prices: Emergency First Aid at Work £550, First Aid at Work £1,500 per session for up to 12 staff, on-site at your premises, all-inclusive.
Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, each employer provides first aid for its own employees. For a recruitment agency, that starts with your own office: consultants, resourcers and support staff need adequate first aid cover, decided by a needs assessment, like any other office employer.
Temporary workers are less straightforward. When an agency places a worker with a hirer, HSE guidance says the agency and the hirer should agree who provides what. In practice the hirer's on-site first aid arrangements usually cover agency workers while they are on the hirer's premises, but the agency should check those arrangements exist and record what has been agreed rather than assume it.
The first question for any agency is its own workplace. A recruitment office is usually lower-risk, so the one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course is normally enough for your nominated first aiders. Busy open-plan floors, client visitors and candidates attending interviews all count when you work out how many trained people you need on site at once.
The second question is the workers you place. The regulations make each employer responsible for its own employees, and HSE guidance on agency workers says the agency and the hirer should agree arrangements between them. The hirer controls the workplace, so its first aid provision usually covers agency workers on site, but agencies should confirm that cover exists, make sure workers know who the first aiders are and where the kit is, and keep a note of the agreement in each assignment's paperwork. This is general information rather than legal advice, so check the detail for your own contracts.
Some agencies also choose to offer candidates who already hold a current first aid certificate, because many hirers value it in warehousing, hospitality, care and facilities roles. That is a commercial choice, not a legal requirement, and the certificate belongs to the person who earned it.
Who we typically train in Recruitment & staffing agencies
A typical agency booking is a London recruitment office training a group of consultants and operations staff in Emergency First Aid at Work in one day, so first aid cover holds across rotas, client visits and interview days.
Your own office covered
Emergency First Aid at Work for your internal team, in your own meeting room, in one day for up to 12 people.
Clear on temporary workers
We explain the duties as they stand, so you can agree first aid arrangements with each hirer and record them, rather than leave it to chance.
Regulated certificates
FAA Level 3 Award certificates, Ofqual-regulated and valid for three years, each with a number that can be checked.
Recommended courses
The one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course suits most agency offices. Agencies that employ their own on-site supervisors or teams in higher-risk settings, such as warehousing, construction or events, may want some of those staff trained in the three-day First Aid at Work course.

Recruitment & staffing agencies first aid training: common questions
Who provides first aid for agency workers?
Each employer is responsible for its own employees under the 1981 Regulations, and HSE guidance says the agency and the hirer should agree who provides what. The hirer's on-site arrangements usually cover agency workers on its premises, but the agency should check and record that this has been agreed.
Does our recruitment office need a first aider?
Every employer needs adequate first aid for its staff, set by a needs assessment. A small, lower-risk office may only need an appointed person, but many agencies train at least one person in Emergency First Aid at Work so cover does not depend on who is in that day.
Can you train our temporary workers?
We train groups at the organisation's own workplace, so this works where an agency books a session for workers it employs. We do not sell individual places or run public courses.
